Prelims Paper exam -CSAT Paper I and Paper II
From 2011, the pattern of Civil service exam has been changed and it is popularly known as CSAT(Civil Service Aptitude Test) and it is combined of Paper - I and Paper- II.

Paper I | General Studies - This paper will be counted for qualifying to write the Civil Services Mains exam. | 300 (Two Hours) |
Paper II (CSAT) |
Aptitude test (CSAT) - This paper is of qualifying nature, but candidate must score at least 33% marks in this paper. However, marks of
this paper are not counted for writing the mains examination.

The written examination consists of nine papers, two qualifying and seven ranking in nature.

IAS Interview - Personality Test in Civil Service exam
Officially called the "Personality Test", the objective of the interview is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public service by a board of competent and unbiased observers. The test is intended to evaluate the mental caliber of a candidate.
